Then I come to the end of this month Obstructions, and what many fun drinks experiences, it has caused! I almost want to extend it for another month, but it does not - I'd better blogging a little more food again.
This month's last drink is also one of the first things I dreamed up when I decided to have drinks and cocktails as this month Obstructions. If I have been in France for my summer vacation, there must of course also be a drink with absinthe. It is a violent alcoholic who has previously been banned in several countries because it was believed that wormwood (an ingredient in absinthe) contained nerve poison thujone, pam believed gave chronic brain damage if you took it frequently.
Absinthe often have a greenish tinge, which has given the nickname "the green fairy". The version I had purchased was not very green, so I added a little bit of peppermint liqueur to get a clearer green color.
Pour the black sugar on a plate. Lubricate the edge of a small champagne glass with licorice syrup and press the edge into the sugar. Pour absinthe and peppermint liqueur in the glass. Then add the Sprite. Carefully pour a little licorice syrup into the drink - preferably along the edge of the glass, so it does not dissolve but settles at the bottom of the glass. Put wormwood and a long ice cube in the glass. Serve without straw - here it is important to taste sugar licorice edge while you drink. pam
Note: Funky little thing that was almost as planned. It is welcoming, sweet without being sickly and have a good licorice flavor. And it is a drink that is also very beautiful when it dissolves and is due ...
I can also recommend: Green Ice, fried pork shank and panna cotta with rosewater and strawberry Citrus homage and other goodies Pleasing Peach and interpretation of Harvey Wallbanger Ritz Fizz and a horrible green drink Summer pam Love Kiss Kiss - and pizzas on the grill Licorice Clown and Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri This entry was posted in drink, recipe and tagged Obstructions 07-2012 of the whisk. Can you ask yourself visiting for a cocktail? So I'll find a hostess gift. Next blog project pam of the sweet will be to try to make havtornflødeboller with licorice!
What a beautiful sight! Although we usually never get drinks, it has been very inspiring to see what you can conjure up. Absinthe has a lot to answer and was notably banned in Switzerland in 1908, in the United States in 1912 and France in 1915 (according to wikipedia) ...
I also think it's one of the reasons why the drink has fascinated many - including me - but after seeing the Moulin Rouge I connect consistently drink with poets, artists, decadence and decay
Hehehe, I was just reading your comment twice before I caught the reference The black sugar I bought in a cake shop, but you can also do it yourself - see here how: http://krissers-cookiecrumble.blogspot.dk/2011 / 11/how-to-farvet-sukker.html
