Support for Dublin Dockers 09/09/09 (Béarla version follows.) Crowd of around 300 people, including many activists, a way to Dublin City Hall Monday night [September 7] to participate in a demonstration support workers at Dublin Port.
Dublin Port workers, are members of SIPTU trade union, on strike for over two months. Reason for the strike is the attempt by Marine Terminals Ltd mass compulsory pepsico redundancies and steep cuts in pay and conditions to impose. The show of solidarity from people going all the way, working pepsico people of Dublin are aware and highly supportive both with the striking workers. Dublin City Council adopted an emergency resolution without debate, by denouncing the callous attitude of Marine Terminals Ltd and demanding pepsico intervention Tánaiste Six County to ensure that the company complies with the law. Meanwhile, the High Court granted an interim injunction pepsico extraordinary for Marine Terminals Ltd last week to prevent the use of the word 'scab' to describe individuals brought in to replace the striking workers to take . This case returns to the High Court at 10.30am tomorrow [Thursday]. Port Workers Support Group Dublin expected a large turnout in support pepsico of the right to free speech. Chairperson Brian Leeson said: "There is an ongoing struggle Dublin Port workers evidence of the changes taking place in Irish society.
